Man stabbed several times Wednesday, case being investigated by police

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - On Wednesday March 20th around 20.30 the police patrol unit was directed to the Melford Hazel Sports Complex on the Sualiga road for a stabbing incident.

Upon arrival of the patrol it was confirmed that indeed a young man had been stabbed by an unknown person.


The victim who is a minor residing Over The Bank and carrying the initials R.R., reported that while he was walking on the above mentioned road he was suddenly attacked by an unknown male that tried to snatch his cell phone from him.


When he resisted against his attacker he was stabbed several times all over his body by the assailant.


After committing this cowardly act the assailant fled the scene of the crime.


The victim was attended to by personnel of the Ambulance department and after taken directly to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further medical attention.


The detective department is investigating this crime further.
