Trafficking of drugs between Sint Maarten and Saint-Barthélemy: the police seize 2.5 kg of herbal cannabis

MARIGOT - On January 24, 2012, the gendarmes of the autonomous territorial brigade of St. Bartholomew, carried out a control operation that targeted the port of Gustavia.

Around 10:30, the dog team of the gendarmerie, which specializes in the detection of narcotics, control a passenger arriving from Philipsburg.

Detected by the dog in the hand luggage of a man 26 years old was 2.424 KG of herbal cannabis.

The drugs were seized by the agents.

As a result of the discovery the man was immediately placed into custody at the gendarmerie brigade in St. Bartholomew.

He admitted that he acquired this product in Sint-Marteen to sell it on the island of St. Bartholomew.

He was then sent to Guadeloupe after 48 hours of police custody and he was incarcerated pending his immediate appearance in the next available court trial.
