PHILIPSBURG - Minister with the responsibility for telecommunications, Franklin Meyers made it emphatically clear on Wednesday that he will not sign any landing permit agreement for UTS, who is the competitor of the local telephone company.

Speaking on that subject Wednesday he stated that these opportunities would have been afforded to the island in any country in the Caribbean and therefore, he should see why St.Maarten should an exception to the rule.

The Minister was at the time addressing matters in relation to the Fiber Optic Cable that is being between St.Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius and St.Kitts.

The Minister further stated that the project coordinators have been in discussions with UTS to use the manhole landing site on St.Maarten for UTS, as oppose to the manhole for the local telephone provider.
