PHILIPSBURG - During the weekly press conference on Wednesday, Minister with the responsibility for tourism, Franklin Meyers reflected some-what on the composition of the St.Maarten Tourism Authority (SMTA) board.

He confirmed that there is agreement in their negotiation with the stakeholders.

The Minister noted that the standard procedure was to assign three representatives from the Private Sector and three from the Public Sector plus one to be selected from the six, but that this was not feasible for St. Maarten.

It has now been decided to allow the Private Sector to select six and one will be selected by the Government of St. Maarten.
