PHILIPSBURG - The owner of Robbie Lottery, Robertico Alejandro dos Santos has been detained.

He was detained on Curacao Wednesday morning, after he was called to the police station to be questioned in connection with a money laundering investigation.

Authorities in Curacao have been investigating the allegations that dos Santos collected illegal profits through the sale of forged lottery tickets, using his legitimate businesses as a front.

The investigations started in 2008 and seemingly uncovered what seems to be a "money laundering scheme" involving large deposits into the WIB on St Maarten.

It was also noted that apart from the money laundering scheme, the deposits were also supposedly made to pay the salaries for his employees as well.

Dos Santos is one of the major financiers of the MFK political party who successful conducted a political campaign in 2010.

As we now hear in this Orlando Cuales report, Robbie dos Santos is being detained in connection with the ongoing investigation.
