PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - Tourist returing from a tour to Pic Paradis at noon on Thursday were startled due to an accident which reportedly injured a few tourists.

Reports state that a tour bus operated by Dutch Tours, encountered difficulties, apparently with the braking system on their return from Pic Paridis.

The bus was travelling down the Pic Paridis hill in an uncontrolled manner, striking a taxi buss that was travelling up the Pic Paridis hill.

A collision between the tour bus and the taxi bus took place in the vicinity of Lottery Farm.

After the collision the taxi bus was pushed back into a wall after which it turned over injuring some seven (7) passengers and the taxi driver.

President of the St. Maarten Collectivité Alain Richardson stated on Thursday afternoon that the driver of the taxi sustained the most serious injuries.

Initial information says that the taxi driver may have suffered a broken ankle.
