PHILIPSBURG - President of the WIFOL Theophilus Thompson has confirmed that the employees of the Pelican Resort were invited to go back to work.

The union president stated that the workers were presented with a one year short term contract and the workers who requested to see the contracts were refused their right to have a copy of the contract.

Some of the workers who were refused a copy of the contract returned to the Union who then sent a letter on January 23rd to the labor department and the Minister of Labor to address the issue.

A letter was also sent to the management of the Pelican resort requesting a copy of the agreement as well as the amount of person who might have signed the agreement.

According to the Union President, the Labor department does have a role to play, because they first have to approve any contract that is given out.

The workers and the union are currently awaiting answers from Pelican, the labor department and the Minister on this matter.
