Vital meeting for Carnival booth holders on Thursday

PHILIPSBURG - There will be a very important meeting on Thursday night, February 9 for all booth holders for the upcoming Carnival season.

The meeting will start at 7:00pm at the Government Administration Building and all booth holders are urged to attend.

The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) reported on Tuesday that hardly any booth became available this year, with the majority of booth holders opting to secure their booths again for Carnival 2012.

The SCDF, as is customary, gives first preference to persons who have had the specific booth the year(s) before. These booth holders still must register in time for their booths however.

~ All booths allotted ~

For the 2012 Carnival season only 4 booths became available and all were because the booth holder from the year before did not register for their booth in time.

The four available booths have all been allotted to persons on the waiting list who applied early in the registration process.

The SCDF thanked all persons who registered for a booth this year "but regretfully we cannot offer everyone a booth," the foundation said in a release.
