PHILIPSBURG - At around 9:30am Monday, an aircraft from Miami encountered problems and ditched just off Aruba.
Our reports state that the twelve (12) seater aircraft with two persons on-board radioed in their GPS location which was 17 miles off Aruba, just between Curacao and Aruba.
The Coast Guard was then able to go to that location where they carried out a successful rescue operation of the two crew members.
Initial reports say that the cause of the forced ditching was due to mechanical problems.
