ORANJESTAD - The Aruban airline Tiara Air are presently expanding their aircraft fleet with two Saab 340A's.

The turboprop light commercial carrier will be leased from the U.S. Aero Century Corporation, the Amigoe newspaper in Curacao reported.

With this extension says Tiara Air, new regional destinations to operate will be created. Also on existing routes the number of flights will be increased.

Tiara Air started operations more than two years ago with scheduled flights from the airport on Aruba.

Until now, the airline only used two Shorts 360 aircraft, with room for 36 passengers. The Saab 340 has a similar capability, but offers a wider range.

The airline provides scheduled services between Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire and Las Piedras (Venezuela).
