HOLLAND - Dear Students, Graduates and (Young) Professionals of St. Maarten,

During the inauguration of the Stichting Soualiga Foundation (SSF) at the St. Maarten's Day celebration on November 11, 2011 in the Hague, our Minister Plenipotentiary the Hon. Mathias S. Voges announced that the SSF in the near future will be calling upon you, your input and ideas when SSF intends to organize events.

The time is here.......SSF has the pleasure to announce that it intends to organize a Students Forum!!!! The main GOAL of this event is to get you the student, you the graduate and you the young professional to participate in a forum discussion with the Theme: "Succesvol Studeren en Succesvol Terugkeren"/ "To Study Successfully and to Return Successfully".

During the years past we all have heard the complaints and remarks of our students, our guardians, but also the educational institutions how difficult it is to achieve your goals while studying in the Netherlands. We also are very well familiar with the complaints about the limited possibilities for our graduates and professionals to return successfully to St. Maarten.

Well now, we think it is about time that we get together in order to make a first, but important step towards finding out if the overall perception of how well or how bad our students are doing is correct, it's time to find out how and what can be done to change or improve this perception or even reality. It is you the student, graduate and professional who can provide the best possible information and solutions in that respect. The SSF will strive, with the results of this forum, to become a link between you and the educational institutions, local governments and our own government back home.

At the same time, SSF would like to present itself and brief you on their mission goals! SSF is expressing its hope that during the forum we can interest you to become a member and also join the board. SSF is incorporated to fill a void in the proper representation of our St. Maarten People in the Netherlands, and we want you to help us further build this/your organization!! Please contact us with at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

SSF would like to welcome you on April 20, 2012 at the Evertshuis in Bodegraven, in order to discuss with your fellow students, graduates and young professionals your future and the future of St. Maarten. Come and participate, challenge yourself and pick up your responsibility, join in and be part of the process of Nation Building of our beloved country!! Agenda, concept and program details will be posted on the social media shortly, keep on checking your devices for further information!! Please help us to reach every St. Maartener by helping us to broadcast this invitation. Thank you very much!!

We are looking forward to welcome you in great numbers in Bodegraven on April 20th, 2012!

The SSF Board, Carol Voges & Perry Geerlings

Great initiative.

This is a great initiative. Finally using the expertise of the experts, which are the students or former students, who have walked that road of life and studying in the Netherlands. Who now can definitely give factual information. To make a better St. Maarten all expertise are needed and definitely a broader view should be used and not only an island view. Seeing that our island is growing and also catching up to the developments of the surrounding countries.

Is this invitation only for born St.maarteners or also for those who have affinity for St. Maarten, attended school in SXM and has given back to the island in the manner of work?
