Our StMaarten Heritage and culture I.D card is really making deep impact with the people living in StMaarten.
To my surprise lots of people from the neighboring island said they are impress of what we are doing.
They said StMaarten was one of the only countries in the Caribbean that never or hardly display their heritage and culture, but with the StMaarten I.D card we have identify the StMaarten people as Caribbean people who are proud of their heritage.
They think the idea is brilliant they have never seen nothing like it. And now I will quote what the foreigner has told me" You guys has brilliantly show St. Maarten what is patriotism and love of country is."
He said it will make the Netherlands and France have more respect for us because StMaarten people are finally displaying that they are proud of their Heritage as a people and our past and what the StMaarten people is all about.
He told me now he have much more respect for the StMaarten people because for the very first time we are proud to be who we are and not just being proud of having a Dutch and French passport.
In fact he takes it a much further he said to become more autonomous or even independent one must recognize his heritage and identity their people.
He said the native StMaarten people can be the leaders of the world when it comes to identifying their culture and heritage with the StMaarten heritage and culture I.D card which gives them prestige.
He said that is an honor, he said any government or person that mocks the StMaarten I.D card does not love StMaarten.
The gentleman told me one of the best gif a country can give to a foreigner as a token of appreciation is a card like a StMaarten I.D card.
That definitely will mean a lot and show real appreciation. He said when he saw the card for the first time in his mind he really see one StMaarten and no Dutch and French and that was a bit emotional and touching for him.
He never taught that StMaarten people love their self; for sure our government never really embraces the real or native StMaarten people. He said the StMaarten Nation Building Foundation, Leopold James and the Patriot (Miguel Arrindell) has shown courage stamina and unquestionable love of country for taking a stand for the native StMaarten people on both sides of the island.
The gentleman said and I quote again "it will be wise and in your people (people of StMaarten heritage) best interest if government from both French and Dutch StMaarten in an official document recognize the native StMaarten people." A very special thank you to the Indian community that continues to support our cause and respect us for what we are doing.
I am happy to see lots of StMaarten people even few who in government admit you guys are no doubt doing the right thing. What was once call crazy and out of touch is no doubt now becoming the norm and it will continue until our mission is accomplish, and that is when our constitution recognize who is a StMaartener.
Just as our sister islands Anguilla, Bahamas, Turk & caicos, Antigua & Barbuda and lots of other countries have done. The conclusion is we are on the right track the speed is increasing as we get stronger and wiser. God bless StMaarten and its people.
