As a patriot I must tell our people the truth even when it is not nice to hear. And a true friend will tell you the truth at all time. We should not live year after year and continue to keep accepting what is presented to us. We must raise the standard of our political leaders.
If political correctness and false image is what we accept and like, then we must deal with the repercussions that is plaguing StMaarten at present. We should start accepting people who really care about us and tell us the truth, we might not agree on each and every principle but if candidates are qualify we should let them be and show the true colors.
Big question is what is qualified? Qualify is not only an decent education but it should be people of decent life style that cares truly about people of the country and is truly willing to create opportunity and wealth to help people succeed in life . I good leader will sacrifice him or herself for his people and not turn the blind eye or shut up when party dictates political correctness. A good leader always seeks advice and does not say advice is not needed. If you do a research on many of our political leaders you will notice that many of these people really are not honest and many are deceptive. But the fault is also of the electorate (the voters), because we support them when most of us well know their intentions is not of good for the citizens of StMaarten.
Most of the electorate think self interest and not love of country. Let me explain myself. We have about 19000 voters; of those people about 50% is self interest, this will destroy the country. We have about 9500 voters who care selfishly for themselves and the other half with good intentions. How is it possible for a country to attain success with that mentality? Our actions continue to breed the wrong kind of politicians and make it difficult for the people that love country to get in power. The solution to our problem is not government; the solution to the problem is our selves. If we do not start practicing personal responsibility and start loving our country StMaarten, there will not be any StMaarten for any person to enjoy.
What was done to native StMaarten people is now being done those many legal immigrants who are now Dutch citizens of StMaarten. They are getting left behind for the illegal immigrants and now they understand how we have feel.
But I must be honest, we as native StMaarten people must blame ourselves, we allow this corruption to continue when it benefited us and now it has destroy us that we are on the verge of extent. Look at many of the families in our government, the most are people of StMaarten heritage who continues and allow all Dutch citizens to be exploited.
Do not blame Pelican Hotel, it is our laws and government who allow the people to be exploited because political correctness is more important than people lives. The electorate of StMaarten has allowed the political deceivers to divide us at our own expense. And because we are willing to play puppets for them we will let them destroys us instead of removing them. This New Year 2012 it is up to you to allow political parties to divide you, or let us come together as one people and take StMaarten back to those who truly care for all people.
I pray that God give you the wisdom to accept the truth and see the facts as they are. The problem with StMaarten is not only the politicians but it is we the electorate who continues to breed corrupt and deceptive politician.
The conclusion is to think love of country first along with nationalistic pride. God bless the people of StMaarten, I know the truth does hurt and is hard to accept but it is still the truth. I love you the people of StMaarten.
